Hello Everyone! So let’s talk about this little thing called Life. One thing that Is known to be true is that life is beautiful but can be hectic. On a daily basis people
Ā are constantly pulled in different directions. From husband’s, wives, children, careers and family members our plates are full! So in the midst of everything, it’s important to take care of ourselves. Why should they? Let’s talk.Ā
Self Care- The practice of taking action to preserve or improve one’s own health. That’s the dictionary’s definition but here’s a different one..Making sure that you are taking care of your own happiness in daily life. After all, you are a priority right?
There are four types of self care so let’s explore.
Physically- ( The Body)Here are some examples like working out at the gym, eating right, drinking water and even cleaning up clutter. (Cluttered mind makes a Cluttered home)
Emotional-( The Heart)Ever hear the saying, “Misery loves company ?” Watch who you are around. Be with positive people, also set boundaries.. boundaries are great! They help you and the people in your life. It’s important to have healthy relationships. Don’t allow things to build up, confront things as they happen.Ā
Psychological-(The Mind )Personal and Professional Development! Don’t give your attention to things you can’t control. Keep in mind that you need to take time to reflect, also if you are a writer , you can journal. But if you aren’t then you can still journal, also any place that helps you grow, learn and reflect.Ā These places help you to grow which is important in this aspect. Growth is important.Ā
Spiritual- (The Spirit) This includes prayer or meditation. Be present in the moment and practice gratitude. Spend time in nature.Ā (Non-material aspects of life)
So! Let’s talk…How many areas are you doing? Or are you doing all of them? Do you see any room for improvement?
So, Self Care is very important. It isĀ said that it helps reduce stress, decreases depression, and increases happiness as well as positive coping mechanisms,Ā also otherĀ things. Always remember you can not pour out of an empty vessel. It’s important to do something for yourself. Also if you live in the Los Angeles area, please check out Picasso Scalp Micropigmentation . Our bodies are a blessing and we need them to go from place to place. We also need to help ourselves and others. So when we don’t take care of them we are asking for our bodies to eventually shut down. In school we learned that water is important and if we don’t drink water we won’t live long because our bodies are mostly water.
So, the same can be said for self care, we must have our time to reflect, pray, eat right and be with positive people. But daily we need to do one thing for ourselves. If we take care of our bodies, our bodies will take care of us.
Why Should I Care?
Well everyone! She speaks on this topic because it’s very real for her. She has come a long way in her self care journey. Before in life, she didn’t take care of herself. On one occasion she remembered fainting because she left her house and walked around in the heat. She had drank no water or even eaten anything. Her friends were so upset with her. Even now she pours into her husband on a daily basis, but makes sure that she gets filled before she pours into him.
Here’s some things she loves to do, writing, going to the gym. Also going into the other bedroom and reflecting and afterwards cooking a nice vegan dish!
But has she always…No she hasn’t but as I’ve gotten older and matured, it became something that became a part of me.
In life I’m constantly doing a lot of ministry, people need help and she is grateful to be a blessing to you.
Here’s some food for thought, our lives are to help others, not just ourselves. No man is an island so we all need each other.
So, what will you do?
In Conclusion, We talked about the positives of doing self care and even the negatives of not doing self care. Remember, don’t get so consumed with your daily life that you forget that you need time to adjust, and that you need care as well. You can’t pour out of an empty vessel. She hopes you realize that it’s important, also self care doesn’t mean that you are selfish but it means that you love yourself and you love others. She hopes that you take this to heart.
It’s taken a very long time for me to get comfortable with practicing focused self care. I’ve always put everyone else’s needs and wants before myself. I’ve always taken care of everyone and everything else, and left little room or time for myself. I have finally come to the point of accepting, and more importantly, believing, that I am just as worthy of all the things that I readily give to others. Great post!
Remember you can not pour out of an empty vessel…
