Well, soon I will have some information to share but I won’t yet. So hold on to your hats lol. So here we are it’s April and next month is out wedding anniversary. You know how people say time flies when you are having fun..they were telling the truth! We are what love looks like.
It’s deep to be in love and finally have someone that adds to you and doesn’t take away from you. I get to be myself and that’s silly, opinionated, honest and more. If I’m having a bad day his hugs and kisses make it all better. But here’s a secret I wanna share with you..I love my husband but I’m glad I learned how to love me first.
When you truly love yourself, you don’t take less and you respect yourself enough to wait for what you deserve. I hope that you find that great love in you before your spouse comes.
Well tomorrow makes one year that I’ve been here, writing this blog. It’s going to be my blogaversary! I know it’s not a word but hey I hope you will let me getaway with it…lol…So with that in mind. I want to mention a mindset challenge that has has a hold on me.
It says that “I don’t have to master anything perfectly to start reaching my goals and growing my successes. So, last year I was thinking about what could I do to share my story and encourage others? I knew something had to change but wasn’t sure what exactly. I was two months away from getting married and I said to my fiance, i think I wanna blog. Do you think I should do it?
He told me yess you should do it. I took his advice and ran with it. Did I research blogging? Did I join all the groups on blogging ? Nope I didn’t. This blog sat here and I kept writing and wondered if anyone cared, then I got my first follower. I know I kinda went around the corner and down the street, but it’s important that you just start.
It’s been a year and do I know everything about blogging? No but I’m still learning and I found out how much I love it. Being here has blessed me to know what I want to do with my life.
If you build it, he will come. Don’t let procrastination rule you, jump In and learn as you go. Don’t fight the process.
The question I have been asking myself is Who told me this?
It seems like one day we were told something, and we kept it for the next 20 or thirty years. Who told me this?I was raised by my mom, who believed in God and who had the most beautiful voice that I have ever heard.Join me as I break free from the chains of conformity, challenge the narratives that have held me back, and embark on a journey of self-discovery and unapologetic self-expression. It’s time to reclaim our lives and rewrite our own stories. Are you ready?
Is she beautiful?
That picture was from when we were on vacation years ago. But my mom, who I love. I’m realizing some things that I got from her that I didn’t know until I became an adult. All my life I wanted to fit in, I didn’t create waves, I checked all the boxes. I went to school, graduated, and had the state job. Yes, I did all of that. Little did I know, I’m supposed to create waves. I can’t be anyone else, that’s correct, but I can’t be afraid of what others are going to say because I’m in charge of living my life. I’m at a crossroads here, and I’m tired of being the shy girl behind the scenes.
So, I’m not really at a crossroads, am I?I’m already doing things that are against the grain, I’m embracing the fact that I’m a teacher, writer, influencer, and podcaster, but that’s not all I am. I am looking forward to finding out more about myself. In this life we must ask ourselves who told us things about us or even the life they believe we should live.
Now, I’m not downing my mom. I believe that the life she lived must have been good for her, but I’m determined to have more, just like I want my kids to more. So where do I go from here? Well, I’m going to put myself out there more. Will everyone like me? No, but when you decide to be authentic, the right people will flock towards you.
I still have layers to who I am, but I will still put myself out there. Yes, you will definitely see my name in lights. You will see me on publications with my own column. What else? Well, only time can tell. But I’m manifesting greatness. What about you? Are you ready to break free from the expectations of others and live a life that’s true to your authentic self? Join me on this journey of self-discovery and empowerment. Together, we’ll challenge the narratives that have held us back, embrace our uniqueness, and create a life that reflects our deepest desires. It’s time to step into our power and rewrite our own stories. Start by sharing your own ‘Who told me this?’ moment in the comments below and let’s inspire each other to live boldly and authentically. Together, we can create a world where being true to ourselves is celebrated. Let’s embark on this transformative journey together!
It’s been forever since I’ve said hi and I hope all is well with you. I’m in an interesting place in my life. I’m constantly looking at the person I am with the person I’m meant to be. In my life, there have been so many struggles, aka challenges that I’ve had. Some were because I didn’t want to rock the boat, but others were because I just wanted to make my into someone else. Is my life over?
This Friday is my birthday, and I’m excited, but I also wonder is my life over. Will I finally break free or allow others to put me in a box and stay there for the rest of my life. There are some things about me that I was raised to do, always be nice, watch my facial expressions, and I believe those are still good qualities to have. I watched how my parents lived, and that’s not acceptable for me. Is my life over?I don’t think my mom ever gave me a goal of how much money she ever wanted to make or generate. My dad never did. So, does that mean I have to follow suit?
There comes a moment in life, where you get tired of hitting your head on the same rock, it’s very painful, and it can kill you.I’m ready for more adventures that lead me to my goals. No more partial blessings. So, does that make me weird? Probably. But oh well, that’s fine. Here’s a quote I want to share with you.
There are two dates in your life, the day you were born and the day you figure out why.
I’m not a perfect person, nor do I proclaim to be. Technically, I shouldn’t even have this platform because of what society has said about girls like me. But I’m me, and I encourage you to push past where people say you can’t go. It’s your life and you should go as high as possible. I have a broadcast I do called Crazy Weird News, and I often talk about embracing your wierdness. Those wonderful things about you that sometimes you keep hidden over fear of what others will say and do.
I’ve decided to be unapologetically me. The people that are for me will love my quirks, and if not boo hoo, lol. I must stay true to me. Like Shakespeare said. To thine own self be true. So, is my life over?
No, it’s not over. In fact, it’s just beginning. I’m going to fly higher and higher. There will be people who won’t want you to win but win anyway. Stay encouraged!
Heyy!! One of my favorite quotes is my mind is a raging torrent flooded with rivulets of thought. Deep quote right? That’s that college degree talking lol. A phrase my mom always liked to say was ” time brings about a change.” I believed her but as I grew older I wonder….Does it?
This year like the rest of us, I will be one year older and its around that time that I think about choices I’ve made, if I have any regrets, or even some things I want to do in my new birth year. Am i the only one that does that? Yes a new year starts in January but for me it starts in June. One year older, hopefully another year wiser. When I was a kid, I wanted to be like Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. One of my favorite songs is Dreamlover by Mariah Carey. It got to the point where my friends would turn the song off because they didn’t want me to sing it. That’s mean right?
Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey were beautiful and me I didn’t feel that way at all. Check out this picture of me in high school, I definitely didn’t feel like those beautiful people I was talking about. I said earlier that I think about different things I want to do, regrets and all that. I also think of what I’ve learned and what I wish I knew when I was younger. I’m learning now that everything is perfect but here are some things I wish I knew.
High school
1. Love myself- I know this can be easy but when I learned to love myself, I mean truly. My quirks, my weirdness, my beauty and my humor to name a few. Loving yourself has to do with loving all of your faults so to speak and still knowing you are wonderful just the way you are
2. Find your voice- I wanted to be like everyone else to the point where I didn’t know who I was. What’s my voice? Don’t spend so much time agreeing with others and you don’t know how you really feel about it. Know your own mind and follow it.
3. No more comparing- I mentioned that I wanted to be Whitney Houston when I was a kid. But what’s wrong with being me. Guess what? I can’t sing like Whitney but I can sing like me. I actually have a beautiful voice and I love to sing. When we compare ourselves we are cheating ourselves and others from walking in their own truths.
What are some things you wish you knew when you were younger?? Now I’m walking in my truth, are there things I want to change? Yes. I’m wanting to change my weight but if I don’t then I’m still beautiful. Walk in your truth and don’t forget to take up space. If people say you are too much, maybe they think of themselves too small.
Greetings everyone! It’s been awhile but now we are in a new year. I remember when 2023 seemed like such a long time ago when I was a teenager, but now it’s here. Is it just me or does this year feel different? In a good way. I feel like I’m on the verge of something amazing.
Some years back, I wrote a list of thirty things I wanted to do before I turned 30. Interesting enough one of the things I put was to go to Paris and do so many things. Funny enough some of the things on my list came true but many didn’t. Do now that I’m in my thirties I need to create forty things to do before I turn 40.
So, I want you as well to tell me what you think of my list and if you are going to work on your own list. 1. Go to Paris, France. Yeah I gotta say it, I still want to see the Eiffel Tower and buy a beret. Oui oui. 2. Go horseback riding on the beach. I’ve been riding but never on the beach. 3. Go to Germany and see the Anne Frank House. 4. Go to the Grand Canyon. 5. Sing karaoke with a celebrity 6. Go to a movie set and be an extra. 7. Audition for Tyler Perry.
8. Get a fashion makeover and shop with Tabitha Brown. 9. Go skydiving 10. Go to a movie premiere 11. Go on tour 12. Go on a national talk show 13. Go viral 14. Make a scholarship program for my hometown 15. Have kids 16. Try Escargot 17. Prepare a culinary dish for a restaurant 18. Go and see Mount Kilminjaro 19. Do a walking marathon 20. Be on a magazine cover 21. Scuba diving 22. Go water skiing 23. Scream from the top of a volcano 24. Go to Kale my name 25. Talk business with Michelle Obama 26. Be famous 27. My home be on HGTV 28. Send my cousin a check for 500k 29. Sing in the rain 30. Wash my hair in the rain
31. Film a day in my life 32. Publish my book. 33. Talk to the President 34. Sing in the Metropolitan Opera House. 35. Sing in Carnegie Hall 36. Be on top of the billboards 37. Have a following 38. Live in two states at once 39. Give away my tips for leaving the middle class 40. Teach others how to submit to their calling.
Well, these are my forty things. What about you? One thing I’ve found to be true is we should all enjoy our lives. My mom always wanted to go to Greece but she left this earth and never went. I’m deciding not to leave any stone unturned. My life will continue to be full and I will pour out onto others. Continue to shine your light. Be blessed!
It seems like it was just yesterday that I was a kid. I went to school and everyday I would race home so I could watch Batman the animated series. Then I had to watch Power Rangers. Yes I’m definitely aging myself. One day my 7th grade teacher gave us an assignment.
She told us to write down a timeline for our lives. I came home and told my mommy the assignment and she said ” Well we need to go all out in this assignment.” We went and got a huge poster board and I wrote my timeline.
I had the date I was born and all of the details for my thirteen year old existence, but I had a bunch of goals for how I wanted my life to look like as I got older. After I graduated middle school and went to high school I went back and looked at my timeline. The high school I wanted to go to I didn’t get in to. I said I wanted to go to post secondaryand have two years of college under my belt by the time I graduated high school. I didn’t. Whoops.
So, where am I today? When I turned 18, I went to college and got my degree. That goal took four years to complete but I refused to give up until I got my degree.
Now I’m at this beautiful age of thirty-seven and I have so many goals and dreams. I used to want to get my masters degree but now not so much.I aspire to have my writing business, vlogs, podcast, social media influencer and to help others live their dreams.
There is a quote that says ” Dreams without goals are just dreams and they will eventually fuel disappointment ”
Denzel Washington
I want to shine my light in this world, funny enough though one of the dreams I wrote on my timeline hasn’t happened yet. I said I wanted to write a book and Steven Spielberg would direct the movie. Will I still have him direct my movie? Most definitely. I’m still a huge fan.
There will be people that may be threatened by your dreams and goals but believe in yourself. Start putting your goals into action. So what are your dreams? Continue to believe in yourself and watch your dreams manifest!
Growing up as a young girl I remember my teachers asking me what do you want to be when you grow up? At eight or nine the only thing I thought about was being Whitney Houston. But as I grew up, my dream of wanting to be Whitney Houston faded away and I thought about being a child psychologist.
My high school teacher told us we were to write a paper on our career goals. In all the research I did, I thought child psychologist was a great fit. I loved the human mind and being around kids gave me a lot of joy. I was sure that I reached the right destination.
Question how has your life turned out? Any pit stops along the way?
So somehow from the age of 17 until twenty something I changed career goals and plunged into marriage and family therapy. I graduated with my degree and was ready to get my Masters and be the best therapist ever!
Well, I didn’t go to school for my Masters and here I am a great writer, blogger, ghostwriter and content creator. Has my life gone the way I thought it would? Absolutely NOT!
But, today my life is better than I ever imagined. I’ve hit quite a few road blocks but I’m glad they happened. If they didn’t, I wouldn’t be who I am today. So, what is life to me? It’s realizing the pit stops and finding joy in what you may not have thought of.
What is it about that word that just makes us cringe? I think that word doesn’t sound as bad if we are talking about processing our hair. But what if I told you that going through a process isn’t bad but necessary. Would you agree or disagree with that?
I’ve been learning that when I start something, there is a process that must happen in order for it to be manifested. My mom said that books and doctors said I should walk at one years old. I had celebrated my first birthday and I hadn’t walked yet. I got up and walked the day after my first birthday. Process.
Ever since I’ve been a girl on the move. But many times we want what we want. For me, we’ve been doing our podcast every week and people have been listening but I’m ready to receive the monetization and it hasn’t happened yet. FYI here’s the podcast link. Win Some With The Linsoms . It’s a process.
Between the writing of my book, working on helping small businesses with grants, and legal services. I find that everything is a process. It doesn’t mean those goals won’t happen but it means when they do it will mean so much more to you.
In college, I took class after class but the goal was to get my degree. I had to work for it. It was a process. If I would’ve rushed it then I might have missed something I need and my exposure to the world wouldn’t have been as good as it should.
Don’t get down on yourself in this process. Yes you will win, your podcast will be monetized and everything you are working on will bring great fruit. Some people who truly don’t want success die in the process. But you will continue to win because you became a champion in the process.
It seems like it’s been a while since I’ve written to you. So much has happened. First things first, my husband and I have a podcast, and we definitely want you to listen to. It’s called Win some with the linsoms . Married life is going well, I realize that even when you are in a relationship that is ordained by God you still will have bumps in the road, but you continue to love each other and support each other through it.
There is a great freedom that comes with being happy in oneself and feeling freedom in your relationship. I feel that there is nothing my husband and I can’t have. I have a love that makes me want to be more, because I feel that more is possible.
Of course if you haven’t heard, my husband has written an outstanding book called ” Broken Bones But not a broken soul.” If you haven’t read it please do so. It is an excellent book and I almost cried while I read it. It’s funny so many times we believe that certain things aren’t possible, but in fact they are if we would just put ourselves out there.
I would’ve never thought about having a blog and having all of you wonderful subscribers, but here we are. Anything really is possible but we just have to go for it. I’m in the process of writing my book and I feel so excited about it. One of my dreams is coming true and I’m going to live each and every one of them.
In life I want you to know that you don’t just have one gift. You have more than you think. Don’t you think it’s time to use them? I’m going into different levels I never would have thought of and in that I’m getting more freedom. Are you ready to be free?
Let’s face it: we’ve all been through a LOT of stress, especially during the last 18 months, but we’ve hopefully come out a little bit stronger and more resilient due to the pandemic and the nation-wide shutdown. Stress affects us each a little differently, but one thing many of us (especially women) experience is stress-induced hair loss. Women can also have hair loss during hormonal changes such as pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause. Traditionally, hair loss resources, solutions, and treatments were only targeted and advertised to men due to male-pattern baldness and hair loss, but today, media attention has spread to include both male and female hair loss prevention and treatment.
Did you know that we typically lose anywhere from 50 to 100 hairs a day? It occurs from natural breakage, during showering, and overall just everyday shedding. With summer in full swing and beach days or pool days on the agenda, it’s time to protect your hair from the sun’s powerful UV rays and other external environmental factors that can lead to hair loss and thinning. I’m here to go over a few tips to help get those luscious locks strong and ready for the summer months. Bring on the heat! Save this post to look back on for future reference that includes natural remedies for thinning hair and hair loss solutions. 🙂
DIET
Having a well-balanced diet rich in nutritious foods is one step closer in providing more beautiful and thicker hair. Berries like blueberries and strawberries are high in vitamin C, which is used in the body to produce collagen, and will prevent breakage and thinning. Salmon and fish oil have omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants as well as vitamin B3, that all help to promote healthy and shiny hair.
SLEEP
We all know that as an adult we need eight solid hours of sleep, but did you know that not getting enough sleep combined with a spike in stress can lead to hair loss? Make sure you’re getting an adequate number of hours of sleep, and invest in an eye mask, blackout curtains or whatever else you need to ensure quality sleep!
VITAMINS & SUPPLEMENTS
Taking a daily biotin supplement and vitamins rich in vitamin A, folate, vitamin B-7, and zinc will ensure that your tresses maintain a healthy and rich shine and maintain their thickness. CBD products are all the rage right now, but for good reason – they have serious added hair thickening benefits! My personal favorite is the Gro +Advanced serum with CBD oil from Vegamour.
MENTAL HEALTH
Life stresses naturally take a toll on your overall well being, but it doesn’t have to be detrimental to your hair health and lead to hair loss. Take action and focus on what makes you happy, whether that’s early morning yoga seshes, going for a daily walk to your favorite coffee shop, catching up on all your favorite shows on Netflix, or playing fetch with your dog. Having something in your day that breaks up your work routine and allows your mind to have a mental reset and relaxation period will do wonders, not only for your overall health, but for your hair, too!
SCALP MASSAGE
In fact, using circular motions while shampooing the scalp promotes blood flow and increases hair thickness by stretching cells within the hair follicles. Not to mention, it feels amazing, is super relaxing, and ultimately refreshing to wake up with a nice hair and scalp massage.
There comes a point where even after all the tips, advice, and natural remedies are implemented into a routine, there are no lasting or quantifying results, and the only solution is through treatment. Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-surgical, cosmetic procedure that achieves a fuller-looking head of hair through microdot tattoos on and around the hairline. With these teeny tiny microdots, to the naked eye it looks like healthy hair follicles along the hairline, so you won’t even notice the difference from these microdots to a buzz cut! This procedure generally applies to men, but can also be used on women as well.
Picasso Scalp Micropigmentation is an award-winning center in Los Angeles, Austin, and Chicago led by founder Jeff Villenas.
